Car Seat Safety 101 by StrollerQueen, Part 1.

What to do if your car seat is hard to install, and how straps should be positioned

Do you need any help installing your car seat? How about adjusting the harness? Do you know when to switch from rear to forward facing, or harnessed to booster? How do you choose the best car seat for your child, and your vehicle?

Since StrollerPrince 2.0 has outgrown his car seat, I had a lot of questions.  So we turned to SafeKids.org superstar Wes Bender for answers. In this 6-part series, we'll guide you through the maze of confusing information, so your child will be safe in their seat. In part 1, we take a look at what to do if your installation is difficult, and how the harness straps should be positioned.

  1. Thanks for starting this series :) Car seat safety is so important. I am slightly concerned about the way the pinch test was done at the end. I have confirmed with several CPSTs that it should be done only by the shoulders. And, only perpendicular to the harness....not sideways to "check for bounce back". It seems like this CPST might not be up on current information? Just a thought :)
