Baby Jogger City Micro Review

Micro Zoo

Now that the holiday season is in full swing, a lot of us will be traveling home to see our families.
("Where did he go?)
Some of us may take advantage of winter school breaks to go somewhere far off, and exotic.
 (Look, there he is"!)

Mamas and Papas Luna Mix Review

Last Day of School Luna

No doubt it's a bittersweet time. Perhaps transition always is. The end of one grade, with the promise of yet a higher one coming. Sandwiched in between, the anarchy of summer. Bedtimes are discarded; schedules disregarded.

But a new stroller means *I* maintain my rituals. And what a way to end the school year with a bang!

The long-awaited, for me anyway, Mamas and Papas LUNAMIX!!!! Don't you just love it! Orchid, with a patterned seat insert, and contrasting denim canopy.

As we peruse the last report card, sign the final yearbooks, I am thankful that I have this ointment for disappointment.

There are a lot of strollers that look good online. But remember, pictures will tell you little, if nothing, of their performance. If you don't have a specialty store near you that carries your coveted buggy, you can't try it out for yourself. And for me, this was the case with the Luna Mix.

I fell in love with it when I first saw it at "The 2011 BIG Stroller Roll-Out!" I only pushed it around a little. It's a lot different when I actually put a stroller through the paces on the "SQ Obstacle Course."

And I am happy to report that the Luna Mix turned in a stellar performance!
It's kind of a cross between the Baby Jogger City Mini, and Valco Latitude. Or maybe a Valco Ion/Joovy Kooper with a single handle. It's a nice "mix" of features that work for both indoors and outdoors, and for small or bigger children.  So it's a pretty good all around stroller, if you only want one.

I've been hearing a lot of complaints lately about baskets that are hard to get in to. But as you can see, this one is pretty easy to access.

There is a front napper bar that swings open, extendable leg rest, and deep recline.

Best of all, it is called Luna "Mix", because you have the option of mixing different color seat pads, footmuffs, and canopies.

The handle is height adjustable, with an astonishing 18" range. There is suspension on all the wheels, which is another reason it does so well outdoors.

The fold is small and compact, and you can pop off the wheels for an even smaller fold.

So "pop off" to get yours today, and enjoy your summer strolling!

Mamas and Papas Cruise Review

Easter Cruise

(Apologies to Irving Berlin ;)
With your dressed up bunny,
His floppy ears so funny,
You'll be the grandest stroller in the Easter Parade...

Yes, it's time to put away the shamrocks and the green, because once again, it's time for yet another holiday. Which means it's time for yet another stroller!

Here come Peter Cottontail, cruisin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity Hoppity Easter's on it's way!

And considering how many people cruise to see Mama and Papa on Easter, the Mama's and Papa's Cruise is a very good choice. Even the Easter Bunny is singing her praise!

For an umbrella stroller this size, it has really big wheels, with suspension.

The basket also holds quite a bit.

There is a carry strap, and two back canopy pockets, which comes in very handy for traveling.

And a nice peek a boo window on the front, to keep an eye on your little one.

The legrest is pretty long, so great for napping on those long days.

The seat reclines by pulling on this drawstring thingie. Does it have a name? It escapes me.

Wondrously, the recline is nearly flat.

Oh, almost forgot the automatic side lock.

And ta da! Here is the front view!
In plum, THE most fashionable color of the season.

And check out this handsome slate frame. So very British!

Mutsy Transporter Review

Transporter to a Winter Wonderland

Stroller bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening,
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight,
Strolling in a Winter Wonderland...
It's a common Christmas conundrum...you need a stroller wicked enough to tackle the snowdrifts, yet your car is packed to the roof with luggage and presents. So you don't have room for a massive air tire pram. What to take, what to take...and oh yeah, the color needs to right, hmmm, gold would be nice...
Ah, it's the Mutsy Transporter! The perfect sleigh for your happy little reindeer! Folds compact enough to fit in car, yet is strong enough to glide through the snow. The Transporter also has a front napper bar, which helps keep the footmuff in, that keeps your baby toasty warm. This one is a Valco, but you can get one from Mutsy, too. Other nice features include a deep recline, height adjustable handle, and big basket. The Mutsy Transporter is a really gorgeous stroller. That you can see. But, and here is one thing you can never know from a website, unless you have someone like me to tell you... how a stroller pushes. And I am happy to report, that the Transporter is as smooth as silk. I *would* say it pushes like buttah', but that is an overused cliche'. OK, smooth as silk is, too.
Let's just say, it has a superb one-handed push, in all kinds of terrain. The wheels are small enough for indoor shopping, yet big enough for the great outdoors. In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
Until the other kids knock him down.If a stroller could be horrified by this appalling snow joke, then the Transporter would be. But hey, in SoCal, building a snowman is not something one does very often.
